Marketing Strategist

Rock Creek Strategic Marketing, a branding and communications firm in Chevy Chase, MD, is seeking a full-time marketing strategist to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of client marketing communications initiatives. The responsibilities of the position include intelligence gathering, assisting with the development and implementation of marketing plans, developing supporting strategic documents (e.g., creative briefs and messaging documents), and evaluating the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

The marketing strategist will have experience in intelligence gathering as well as marketing/communications planning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective and efficient time management skills, the ability to multitask, and superior written and oral communications skills. The marketing strategist will also have a motivated and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Conduct strategic intake with clients to fully understand clients’ marketing strategy (their brand, industry, competition, and target audiences)
• Prepare and present strategic briefs that are in synch with clients’ marketing objectives
• Gather, analyze, and apply market intelligence and industry research
• Ensure synchronization of message and strategy with creative on client deliverables
• Conceive, write, coordinate, and execute tactical marketing plans for clients
• Demonstrate ability to keep projects on strategy and on message

Education and Experience

• Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, or related field
• 5-7 years demonstrated experience in marketing and branding strategy development and execution
• Agency experienced not required, but preferred
• Demonstrated experience in working on cross-functional teams, interfacing with clients, and campaign implementation and management
