Marketing Strategist

Rock Creek Strategic Marketing, a leading branding, strategy, and communications firm in Chevy Chase, MD, is seeking a full-time on-site marketing strategist. Rock Creek’s marketing strategists manage client strategic initiatives from strategy inception to program implementation, including plan development, creative/content development, reporting and analysis, and campaign monitoring. Marketing strategists identify and analyze our clients’ most important branding and marketing issues to create compelling strategies that provide the basis for important decisions made by our clients’ management teams. Reports to the Director of Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct discovery/strategic intake to fully understand clients’ marketing landscape (their brand, industry, competition, and target audiences).
  • Gather, analyze, and apply market intelligence and industry research.
  • Generate audience segmentation reports that provide insight into clients’ audiences.
  • Analyze existing marketing/outreach campaigns and initiatives and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising campaigns.
  • Prepare and present creative briefs and messaging documents that are in synch with clients’ marketing goals and objectives.
  • Conceive, write, coordinate, and execute tactical marketing plans for clients.
  • Recommend new media and traditional media tactics that support client objectives.
  • Ensure synchronization of message and strategy with creative on client deliverables.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
  • Work closely with the project management team to develop and execute project deliverables.
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.

Requirements

  • Excellent communications and writing skills.
  • Ability to present in front of clients.
  • Self-directed with ability to work on cross-functional teams.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 5-7 years demonstrated experience in marketing and branding strategy development and execution.
  • Agency experienced not required, but preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in working on cross-functional teams, interfacing with clients, and campaign implementation and management.
